Finally remembered that I wanted to comment while I was on the computer. So anyway,

I read it, twice. I enjoyed it, lots. You've got the voices down perfectly, and I was particularly tickled by Vetinari's handling of Young Sam. He's a good Honorary Uncle Havelock, hee.

Yes, I got that it was a mental picture, and a wondrous one indeed. Somehow, I can see Vetinari being good with small children if necessary, and even enjoying it a bit, although he'd never admit that to anyone.
